The MA Dance Performance and Professional Practices is a professionally focused course (11-months), co-designed and co-delivered between Joss Arnott Dance and the University of Salford.
This programme not only focuses at contemporary dance performance at the highest level, but also addresses the wider needs of the dance professional including modules on teaching, workshop design and touring.
Dancers become part of Emergence postgraduate dance company, who will work with a collection of internationally acclaimed choreographers to produce a programme of new performance works each year. Emergence tour nationally under the artistic direction of Joss Arnott and the guidance of a wider team of dance professionals in Spring annually.
Emergence dancers will be involved in production and workshop delivery as part of the tour, equipping them with the skills, knowledge and experience to expand your professional opportunities upon graduation.

As members of Emergence, you will work intensively with Joss Arnott and leading choreographers to create a new programme of dance. This process is embedded into your studies between July and November, leading to a premiere performance at the University of Salford’s New Adelphi Theatre.
Emergence will then tour their original programme of work in February and March annually. Dancers will be involved in delivering workshops and supporting varied production aspects, as well as performing.
Choreographers for Emergence 2019/20 are James Wilton, Wubkje Kuindersma and Joss Arnott.
