VALUES

Experience – We want each person we collaborate with to have the best experience possible working with and being part of EMERGENCE. We aim to create a nurturing support system and working environment for all, encouraging each individual to challenge their artistic practice and to communicate that with pure confidence.

Quality – We have a relentless focus on quality throughout the entirety of the MA Dance: Performance and Professional Practices programme. We embrace innovation and excellence whilst actively curating collaborations and opportunities that support artists, choreographers, participants and audiences alike.

Choreographic Branding – We are very passionate about the sustainability of the company’s branding which emphasises work that is;

-Bold, cinematic and physically challenging

-Strongly linked with music

-Created utilising the strengths of the dancers

-Relevant

-Ambitious

-Empowering and accessible for both performers and audiences.

Talent Development – We are committed to enhancing the talent of our dancers through generous leadership and professional conduct whilst encouraging dancers to be as proactive and forward thinking as they can be.

The significance of individual responsibility is also enhanced within the Company Roles aspect of the dancer’s work. This allows each individual to select and develop skills in other areas such as Marketing, Social Media Design, Costume, Company Administration, Education and Outreach and/or Rehearsal Assistting. Each role is supported by the programme’s core team of staff and industry led freelancers.

Diversity – We are committed to working with and reaching all audiences throughout our programme of work whilst celebrating and supporting equality for all. We will always treat everyone with respect and within a professional manner and aim to do more in our activity to reach a more diverse range of audiences, participants and programme applicants.

Community – We encourage a welcoming and friendly sense of community working with internal and external collaborators, organisations and initiatives. We create long-lasting partnerships regionally and internationally whilst creating a sense of integration into the wider community at the University and being able to involve working with other dance programmes into our delivery. We strive to create valuable networking opportunities for our dancers that have the potential for future collaborative opportunities.
