Alex Ledger
DANCER
Born and raised in County Durham, Alex began dancing at the age of five at Lillian Aubrey’s School of Dancing, where she trained in ballet, tap, modern and jazz. At 12, she successfully auditioned for the Centre for Advanced Training (CAT) scheme at Dance City, Newcastle, where she trained for six years while also completing her BTEC Dance studies from age 16-18. She later progressed onto the BA (Hons) Professional Dance degree at Dance City, graduating in 2022.
Throughout her training, Alex worked with and performed pieces by balletLorent, Anthony Lo-Giudice, Joss Arnott, Anna Watkins, Neville Campbell, and Vanhulle Dance Theatre. Shortly after graduating, she created a duet “The Grandeur of a Modest Moment” with her friend and former classmate, which was performed as part of Anthony Lo-Giudice’s national tour of “ROMA” — a project she hopes to revisit and develop further in the future.
Since graduating, Alex has performed at Durham Fringe Festival and Byker Arts Festival. She has also focused on sharing her love of dance through teaching and mentorship, working as a teacher and assistant on the CAT programme at Dance City, delivering recruitment workshops and after-school clubs across the North East. She recently completed her PGCE in Further Education and, during her placement at Newcastle College, led technical and creative classes and choreographed work for student performances, strengthening her passion for nurturing the next generation of dancers.
Outside of dance, Alex enjoys staying active through strength training and running. Away from the studio and the gym, she can often be found with a coffee in hand, watching sport, or adding to her Jellycat collection. She also has a passion for live music and festivals, valuing the atmosphere of shared energy and creativity they bring.
