Donna was born in Glasgow and started dancing at her local dance school, Le Dance Studio at the age of three. After graduating high school, she went on to study at Dance Studio Scotland located in Glasgow Clyde College where she trained in Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary and Hip Hop with lecturers including Matthew Hawkin, Maxine Railton and Glauco Di Lieto. Donna was also selected by her lecturers to perform a reworked version of Richard Alston’s ‘Gypsy Mixture’ at Pulse 2018.
In her second year at Dance Studio Scotland, she was accepted into the Scottish Ballet Youth Exchange. This Programme involved working with Lorraine Jamieson to develop a piece entitled ‘Sirenes’ that was performed at DanceFest in the Festival Theatre Edinburgh, Destinations in Glasgow and the Joyce Theatre in New York. This program also enabled her to take masterclasses with Gary Clarke, White & Given Dance Company, Sophie Martin and Victor Zarallo. This Dance and Art Development Programme also involved an exchange with NYU Tish students, as well as workshops at the Merce Cunningham Trust, Alvin Ailey, New York City Ballet, Bill T Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and Mark Morris Dance Company.
The following year she was chosen to be part of Generations Dance Company, which performed an intergenerational dance work ‘A Letter To My Shadow’ choreographed by Anna Kendrick and directed by Philippa Clark. This piece was performed as part of Generations Dance Festival at the Tramway Theatre, Glasgow.
In 2018 Donna was accepted into Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance where she trained for three years and had the pleasure of training in a variety of different contemporary styles such as Cunningham, Flying Low, Graham, Limon, Release and Alexander. She was also given the opportunity to take workshops with Wayne McGregor company and Motionhouse, as well as performing works by Alleyne Dance, Daniel Squire, Gary Lambert, Matthew Harding and Fearghus O’ Conchuir. She graduated from Trinity Laban with a First-Class honours degree.
Donna has choreographed and performed in music videos for Gordon James and the Power and Kardo, two up and coming Scottish artists.
