Alice Taylor

DANCER

Born and raised in Manchester, Alice started her dance journey at the age of four. While her training is rooted in ballet and modern, she has always been intrigued by how contemporary can support self-expression and be used as a form of escapism. Alice started her contemporary dance training when she joined the University of Salford in 2020. During her time there, she was able to expand her skills as a performer and an artist through collaborating with a variety of choreographers including Coalesce Dance Theatre, Project Auske and Hawk Dance Theatre, creating both stage and digital pieces.

Since graduating, Alice has continued to hone her craft by co-founding Morph Movement, an interdisciplinary dance and theatre company. Taking the roles of choreographer, artistic director and performer, Alice leads sessions with the dancers supporting them through the creative process. Together, the company have created a number of pieces performed at arts festivals around the North West.

Alice hopes to build and develop more pieces in the future, bringing in her love for the aerial arts. Alice has always had a fascination for the aerial arts however over the past few years she has pushed her training, specialising in hoop. She aspires to continue to expand her skills and use this within future dance pieces as a tool for experimentation and exploration. Alice is also working as a freelancer, collaborating with other artists such as George Alexander Adams and Matrafisc Dance Company. These opportunities have exposed her to many different ways of working of creating, enriching her as an artist and performer.

Outside of the studio, Alice enjoys hiking, swimming and art. She has always been passionate about all forms of art, whether that’s performance or fine art. While primarily focusing on drawing, Alice also enjoys working with clay and various textile techniques such as batik.
