Anna Stricker

DANCER

Born and raised in the small town of Davos, Switzerland, Anna began dancing at 5 years old. Thanks to a dedicated dance teacher who passionately motivated young kids to dance in a town predominately shaped by its offer in winter sports. She started out with modern and jazz classes and added ballet to the mix in her late teens. In the years 2013-2018, Anna went to Bolzano, Italy each summer to join the Bolzano Danza workshops, where she fell in love with contemporary dance. After finishing school, she moved to Dundee to join The Scottish School of Contemporary Dance (The Space) to pursue her desire of learning more about contemporary dance.

During her time in Dundee, she got to see Scottish Dance Theatre perform, observe their rehearsals and learn from them directly through placement and workshops. This continued to inspire her to carry on with her dance journey. Anna graduated from The Space with a First-Class Honours degree in 2024. While studying at The Space, she had the pleasure of working with choreographers Tommy Small, John Ross and an amazing team of lecturers and students at The Space. Additionally, she got to be a part of Matthew Hawkins’ “Because We’re Curious”, a site-responsive work at the V&A museum in Dundee and “Reimagined Depth”, a collaborative degree show directed by artist Shannon Maitland.

Outside of dance, Anna loves to be in nature, preferably where there are animals to pet, mountains to see and cold lakes to jump into. She is also a big advocate for Switzerland’s snowy winters and will welcome anyone who challenges her to a sledging race.
