Clara Selberg

DANCER

Born in Stockholm but raised in Lulea, Sweden, Clara trained from a young age at the local dance studio before moving to London at the age of 18 to start her professional training at London Contemporary Dance School. She graduated in 2023 with a First-Class Honours.

During her studies, Clara worked with a broad variety of choreographers and took part in the creation of several pieces. Clara has performed in pieces by Akeim Toussaint Buck and Ella Mesma, Monique Jonas and Jason Mabana. She also performed in “Sometimes, Even Now,” by James Cousins Company at the National Theatre’s River Stage in the summer of 2023. During her studies, she participated in an exchange program with Suny Purchase in New York where she learned modern techniques from teachers such as Linda Celeste Sims, Jean Freebury and Stephanie Tooman.

In October 2021 she participated in a performance by Pascal Theatre Company called “Dancing, Talking, Taboo” that was performed in St Pancras Church, London. In the summer of 2022, Clara travelled to Italy to take part in Orsolina28’s summer intensive with Juliano Nunes, Alice Klock and Florian Lochner. At the end of that week, she performed at Orsolina’s open-air stage.

Clara has also choreographed and produced performances in her home town in Sweden. She choreographed and performed a performance called “Ever-changing” that was performed in an art gallery. As a part of her dissertation at her School in Sweden, she choreographed and performed a performance called “Tro, Hopp och Kärlek”, about her grandfather’s experience of living with chronic back pain.

Outside of her dance training, Clara is interested in Early Childhood Education and has worked as a nursery assistant in a nursery in London. In the future, Clara sees herself combining her passion for art with her passion for teaching.
