Lewis Cole
DANCER
Lewis is a contemporary dance artist from Swansea in South Wales. Lewis discovered his passion for movement and dance at age 5 when he joined a community dance class to train in tap, modern and ballet. This is where he found his joy and love for musicality, creating rhythms when tap dancing.
Lewis discovered contemporary dance at 15 joining County Youth Dance Company who opened his eyes to the opportunities that contemporary dance has. He then went to study at Neath College to study his BTEC and A Level in Dance which lead him to train at London Contemporary Dance School (21-24).
During his time at The Place, Lewis discovered an unexpected obsession with hip hop and street related dance styles, the main of which being popping which has now become a key part of his practice and dance identity. He also worked with an array of choreographers including SAY Dance, Vicky Mantey and James Cousins to name a few. Lewis is passionate and proud of being a Welsh dancer, being a member of National Youth Dance Wales and wanting to create a bigger dance scene in Wales in the future using his new found love for contemporary, hip hop fusion.
Outside of dance, he is interested in football, Formula 1 and martial arts, being a black belt in karate.
