Matilda is from Crowle in Worcestershire. She began her training at Harlequin Stage School where she competed nationally and internationally in a number of dance genres including ballet, contemporary and jazz.
Matilda trained as a Royal Ballet Associate and with RDC Youth in Birmingham; whilst with RDC Matilda performed works by Adam Rutherford, CaraBdanza and Carlos Pons Guerra.
Matilda recently graduated with a First-Class Honours degree from the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Whilst at NSCD she performed pieces by choreographers and artists including Anton Lachky, Gavin Howard, Hetain Patel and Jamaal Burkmar. Matilda enjoys creating collaborative immersive works that draw the audience into the performance space and forces them to hold an opinion.
Matilda was a member of the Student Staff Liaison Committee and the Learning and Teaching Committee at NSCD and is a Student Representative at the University of Salford.
Matilda’s interest in photography grew during her training and she enjoys capturing dancers preparing, rehearsing and performing. She achieved a distinction in her photography diploma in 2017. Matilda’s photography account can be found on Instagram: @matildamaginnisphotography
Matilda is a keen baker and came 2nd in the Great British Food Festival Cake Off this summer. She works part-time as a steward at Manchester United’s Old Trafford Stadium but is an under-cover West Bromwich Albion supporter.
