Raised in California with Swedish roots, Markus began dancing by taking weekly hip hop classes at the age of 5. Throughout his childhood and teenage years, he joined various dance teams and subsequently performed, competed, and placed in hip-hop dance competitions across the US. In 2021, Markus graduated with First-Class Honours BA in Political Science and Spanish Linguistics from University of California Berkeley. It was in his bachelors where we discovered contemporary dance and took two years of advanced Modern Dance training, Gaga and Movement Improvisation.
In 2022, after taking various workshops and classes across Europe while backpacking, Markus moved to Spain where he joined La Faktoria Training Program. This intensive international dance program consisted of training with prominent artists such as Laura Aris, Thomas Hauert, Jos Baker, Marta Coronado, David Zambrano and more. During this program, Markus was able to get experience performing works for Carmen Larraz and Laida Aldaz, which included site-specific work in Guggenheim Bilbao and Museo Oteiza.
Outside of dance, Markus passes his time fighting his chocolate and YouTube addiction by reading, travelling, swimming and cooking.
