Teresa Nazare

DANCER

Teresa Nazare is a versatile and passionate dance artist from Portugal. With a strong foundation in various dance styles, she has established herself as a skilled performer and choreographic collaborator.

Teresa’s dance journey began at the age of nine with African dance. She later pursued formal training at 14 years old in Setubal Contemporary Dance Academy in Portugal, focusing on ballet, modern, and contemporary techniques. Motivated by a desire to expand her artistic and technical range, at 18, she moved to England to pursue higher education in dance. Teresa furthered her education by graduating with a BA (Hons) in Dance from the University of Salford, where she explored a diverse range of styles, including ballet, modern, contemporary, African, hip hop, aerial, jazz and fusion.

Throughout her career, Teresa has had the opportunity to work with esteemed dance professionals including Dom Coffey, Ina Colizza, Antonello Apicella, Shona Roberts, Deborah Milner, Sarah Lockwood, Elisa Macauley and Lisa Cullen. Her notable performances include “The Earth That Hums” by Ayesha Fazal (2025), “Charge” by Dominic Coffey (2024), “Louder Than Words” by Elisa Macauley (2024) and “Unexpected” by Ina Colizza and Antonello Apicella (2024).

In addition to her performance experience, Teresa has contributed creatively as a choreographic collaborator across multiple projects. Her strengths as a performer and artistic partner are rooted in her strong technical base, artistic sensitivity, and collaborative mindset. Known for her discipline, adaptability, and creative drive, Teresa consistently seeks opportunities for growth and experimentation.

Alongside her artistic career, Teresa has also balanced the responsibilities of parenthood, which has further refined her time management, focus, and resilience, qualities that enhance her professional presence.

Teresa remains deeply committed to grow as a dance artist at Emergence in Salford. She is currently seeking to deepen her involvement in creative processes, touring work, and professional development through workshops and production experiences. Her goal is to contribute meaningfully to the dance community while building strong connections with both national and international artists.
